A programme of online community conversations around the Eden Project North proposals for Morecambe has been opened for registration today, with the first of the 2021 events taking place on Friday (January 22).

The monthly forums, which are open to anyone interested in hearing the latest on Eden Project North and asking questions of the Eden team and its partners, following a successful pilot which took place in November last year (watch again at https://www.edenproject.com/eden-story/our-ethos/eden-project-north/community-conversation).

Each hour-long event will cover a broad aspect of the Eden Project North proposals and will feature speakers from Eden, its partners in the project and other connected organisations.

There will be time for questions and feedback during every conversation and a recording of each will be posted online for those who can’t make it, along with answers to any questions that weren’t able to be addressed in the broadcast.

The conversations will be hosted by David Harland, Chief Executive of Eden Project International (EPIL).

David said: “Staying in touch with our friends and colleagues in Morecambe is of paramount importance in these difficult times. These events will give us, our partners and the local community time to discuss ideas and aspirations in depth.

“We were really pleased with how the first conversation went and we’re looking forward to bringing even more people into the discussion and hearing directly from people in the community.

“Despite the pandemic and lockdowns, we continue to work hard on plans for Eden Project North and have made considerable progress. We hope to be able to visit again soon but, until then, see you on Zoom!”

The confirmed programme so far is:

All community conversations are free to attend and open to all, although participants must register for the meeting beforehand using the links provided for each event to help manage capacity.

Eden Project North will be a major new exemplar attraction in Morecambe that seeks to reimagine the British seaside resort for the 21st century.

The plan is for a year-round destination that combines indoor and outdoor experiences, connecting people with the internationally-significant natural environment of Morecambe Bay while also enhancing wellbeing.

Eden is working on the project with its regional partners the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, Lancashire County Council, Lancaster City Council and Lancaster University.
